TOBY PRICE UP FOR SUPERTRUCK CHALLENGE!
Is Toby Price currently the most versatile rider on the planet? Not content with being awesome at desert racing, enduro, rally and endurocross, Price is now putting his hand to racing SuperTrucks. Yes, seriously, two wheels just ain’t enough for this man!
The 27-year-old Aussie who bounced back from a major spinal injury in 2013 by winning the Finke Desert Race in June, finishing runner up in the ISDE in November and then scoring a third-place finish in his debut Dakar Rally ride – is about to go Super Truck racing.
Jumping behind the steering wheel, Price will square up against none other than Robby Gordon at the opening round of Australia’s 2015 V8 Supercar Championship.
“I keep throwing myself in the deep end and hoping I can swim,” laughed Price. “With two extra wheels and about another 600 hp it’s completely different to racing a bike. These trucks are very twitchy, with a really short wheelbase, and a lot of steering angle, so they drift fairly well.
“Being at the opening round of the V8 supercars is a pretty big deal. Hopefully I can keep the thing on its wheels and have a hell time.”
But in typical Price fashion it won’t be a straightforward weekend of racing for him.
Contracted to race in the second round of the 2015 InsureMyRide Australian Enduro-X Nationals at Sydney on Saturday Price will – with full support from KTM – race the Super Truck in Adelaide on Friday, fly to Sydney on Saturday and then jet back to Adelaide to race on Sunday!
