McCanney Heads BSEC Charge To Wales
The Enduro21.com ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship, powered by Husqvarna Motorcycles heads to Saints Well, Wales for rounds three and four this weekend.
After the action packed opener to the series at Canada Heights, eyes are on the Michelin VI Comp Elite class to see who will take over the number one spot. With Pela Renet unable to commit to the rest of the series, Beta’s Danny McCanney is favourite to win.
On form at rounds one and two, McCanney gave the former Enduro 2 World Champion a serious run for his money and since then has been electric in the Enduro World Championship. Dominating the Enduro Junior category by recording four wins from four starts in Spain and Portugal, McCanney is the guy to beat in Wales.
Returning to the BSEC after missing Canada Heights due to injury, Husqvarna’s Jamie McCanney may offer brother Danny’s biggest threat. Quickly recovering from his wrist, McCanney picked up a podium result at the EWC GP of Portugal and hopes to turn that pace into a winning ride at Saints Well.
Despite a difficult start to the BSEC, Welshman Jamie Lewis (Husqvarna) enjoyed a winning start to the European Enduro Championship and followed it up with top ten results in the EWC. With confidence high, Lewis is determined to get his BSEC campaign back on track and will be a rider to watch for.
Third overall at Canada Heights, KTM’s Tom Sagar is looking for another top three result in Wales while class rookies Jack Rowland (Husqvarna) and Steve Holcombe (KTM) are sure to edge closer to a podium finish.
Add in Daryl Bolter (KTM), Lee Edmondson (Beta), Mark Roberts (KTM), Kevin Murray (KTM) and Rich Ely (KTM) and the Elite class is stacked in talent.
In the Husqvarna Under 23 category Rob Johnson (Husqvarna) is the rider to beat while Brad Freeman (KTM) is favourite for victory in the Motul Under 19 class.
Rounds three and four of the BSEC take place in Saints Well, Wales, April 26/27.
