MARC COMA RETIRES FROM RALLY
Marc Coma has hung up his racing boots. The five-time Dakar Rally winner has retired…
Announcing his decision late Thursday evening on social media, KTM’s Marc Coma has said that he’s retiring from rally. The 2015 Dakar Rally was his last.
Not expecting news like that, the decision has naturally come as a bit of a shock and details are at this time a little short on supply.
While thanking KTM and his sponsors for their support, the five-time Dakar Rally winner also briefly mentions a role as the new sportive director of Dakar.
“I quit. I believe that it’s the right time to do it. After 12 Dakar’s, 5 wins and 6 world championships, I have to be honest with myself and with all the people who have been supported me along those years.”
“To my sponsors and specially KTM, where I’ve always felt at home, thank you. As a new sportive director of Dakar I will have the chance to give back all the energy that somehow the rally has given me.
“THANK YOU all for your support.”
We’ll bring you further details on his decision when an official announcement is made.
Thank you Marc for all you have given us in sport and we wish you well in your future career path…
