In the Elite A class it was Yamaha’s Kenji Suzuki that took victory at a hot and sunny opening round of the Japanese Enduro Championship. With a 15km long lap to be completed six times with two special tests per lap, it was Suzuki that was supreme. Topping seven of the tests, Suzuki held off runner-up Tasashi Kugimura (Honda) to win. KTM mounted Masanari Ota took third.

“It’s great to win the first round,” told Suzuki. “I fought with Kugimura all day, it’s been a great race.”
