HIGHLIGHTS – RUSSIAN XC CUP ROUND 2
After the mud fest season opener of the Russian XC Cup, things dried out considerably for round two with perfect weather and great racing.
Delivering a classic cross country track with a predominantly forest based course in Shahovskaya just 130 kilometers west of Moscow ensured a favourite place for cross country fans.
Husqvarna’s David Leonov grabbed the holeshot. Setting the fastest lap of the race on lap one, Leonov looked the rider to beat until a crash three laps later results in an injured shoulder and early exit.
Point’s leader Honda mounted Alexander Ivanyutin picked up the pieces and rode on to take the win with a four-minute gap.
Sherco rider Dmitry Parshin confidently came second.
Rookie Anton Barancheev finished third marking a big improvments for the rider who raced in the XC kids class last year.
